Overview:

It's a shame that Monster.com neglected to include the effects of being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) on career decisions as a part of their research. Yet, their study does include some findings of interest for everyone.

Some findings were no suprise. The number one reason for accepting a job offer was the salary. Following salary, other important factors were: easy commute, flexible work hours, health benefits and other benfits such as generous retirement savings plans and paid time off policies.

Two top reasons for resigning from a job: Feeling unappreciated and conflicts with boss.

Interestingly, salary was ranked lower as a good reason to stay with a current employer. Relationships with boss and coworkers, feeling appreciated and feeling that one's work is challenging and interesting all ranked higher than salary as reasons to stay with a current employer. Unbelievably, and possible due to the continuing poor job market, 66% of respondents reported that they would stick with a current employer for fear that a new job would be worse.
